The Institute of Saskatchewan Football (ISF) is committed to providing high-quality training and development opportunities for aspiring football Student-athletes. As a premier football organization, we aim to cultivate talent and foster a culture of excellence in the classroom and the sport . Here are some frequently asked questions about the Institute of Saskatchewan Football:

  • What programs does ISF offer?
    • The Institute will offer a tackle football program in 2nd semester for student-athletes in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the 2024/2025 academic year. The student-athletes will get high school credit for in person classes of Football 10/20/30, Special Phys Ed 20/30, Wellness 10 and Leadership 10/20/30. Student-athletes will be able to take a variety of core/elective classes offered through Sask DLC and supported by an online learning facilitator to ensure academic performance and accountability is upheld.   • What programs will ISF offer?
    • ISF is always looking to grow and is currenlty looking into a non-contact offering of high performance flag football for males and females to prepare athletes for potential opportunities on future Canadian Olympic Teams. ISF is also guaging the interest of a Female Tackle Football Institute.   

  • Who can apply to ISF?
    • Any student-athlete in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the 2024/2025 academic year.

  • How are applicants selected?
    • There will be a limited number of participants admitted into ISF. There will limits per position and limits per grade. Applicants will be evaluated on the quality of their application as it relates to the demand per grade and position. A selection committeee will be a part of the process of evaluating the application and sending out invites to those admitted into the program. 

  • What sets ISF apart from other football organizations?
    • ISF will be set apart from other academies with its development forward approach. The goal is to strengthen the overall football community by providing an advanced opportunity for student-athletes to pursue football and academics at the highest level and take it back to their high school teams in the fall. Student-athletes will be held to a high standard or academics and athletics by the teachers/coaches/staff in ISF. The focus will be on creating exceptional student athletes first, by ensuring high academic rigor, individualized strength and conditioning, and refined positional skill development. Opportunities for competition and showcasing the athletes will be secondary to the focus on personal performance in the classroom, gym, and field. The partnership with Sask DLC provides an unique quality learning experience where students can learn a vast array of subjects in a blended learning environment where the will receive online instruction with in person tutoring, faciliation, and accountability from the ISF teachers on staff.  See the about ISF section of the website. 

  • What is blended learning?
    • ​​​​​​​Blended learning, also known as hybrid learning, is an approach to education that combines online educational materials and opportunities for interaction online with traditional place-based classroom methods.

  • What does the day look like?
    • Student Athletes will have six academic periods available to them at ISF. This will include on field/classroom football learning, strength and conditioning with Ignite Athletics, leadership training and three open periods to work with online learning facilitators on classes of their choice. 

  • What classes can I take? 
  • Can you still be involved in extra-curricular activities at your 1st semester school?
    • Yes students can participate in extra-curricular activities at their 1st semester school. They are simply getting their second semester academic offerings at ISF but are still students of their previous school. 

  • Can you still graduate from your 1st semester school?
    • Yes students enrolled in ISF second semester are still eligible to graduate from their previous school. 

  • What competitions will the ISF Harvesters participate in?
    • Different opportunities for competition are being evaluated including participating internationally with some International Federation of American Football (IFAF) member nations. Teams will be selected based on merit and performance within the institute. All grade 10 and 11 student-athletes enrolled in ISF will also be registered in SMF's North Sask Academy League. Grade 12 student-athletes will also play a variety of roles in the North Sask Academy while exploring the pathways in football outcome of the Football Curriculum. Grade 12 student athletes will also receive further individualized strength and conditioning and preparation for post-secondary football opportunities or active for life opportuntities in the sport of football. 
       
  • Will the ISF have billets available for out of town participants?
    • Presently ISF has not secured billets for second semester of the 2024/2025 school year. We will continue to explore possible opportunities but encourage interested student-athletes to seek their own housing opportunities. 

  • Who are the teachers/coaches?
    • The teachers/coaches are experienced football coaches and teachers who are fully licensed teachers in the province of Saskatchewan. They are NCCP trained and have an exceptional experience coaching and developing student-athletes at a variety of levels.
